Scott has been with KPMG for 16 years and has worked with a wide variety of both private and public companies during this time. His first 4 years with KPMG were spent in Vancouver before transferring to the Calgary office in 2000. Since arriving in Calgary, Scott has gained extensive experience working with numerous technology-based clients, providing a wide range of services, including audit, securities work, and due diligence assignments.

 

Scott is a board member with the Alberta Science and Technology Foundation and also sits on the Accounting Steering Committee for the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He is also the partner responsible for KPMG in Calgary’s Campus Recruiting initiatives.

 

In his spare time, Scott is an avid golfer, and especially enjoys spending time with his wife and four young children.

 

Jassie Kang

Jassie Kang joined KPMG in September 2006 after graduating from the University of Alberta.  Jassie started with KPMG Edmonton as an auditing student in the Corporate Audit group, before moving to KPMG Calgary in June 2008.

 

Jassie has recently taken on the role of performance counselor to several counselees and has very much enjoyed this experience.  Jassie also captained his own Movember team this past year and looks forward to growing his “Mo” again this year. 

 

Jassie enjoys travelling whenever the opportunity presents itself and recently visited Egypt and Dubai.  He is also an avid Edmonton Oilers fan and among other things enjoys golfing, movies, and all types of music.

 

Taryn Wener

Taryn has worked in a variety of areas in her short time at KPMG; she started her career with KPMG as a co-op student in Toronto in the fall of 2005, and then made the move to Calgary to complete a term as a summer intern in 2006. Taryn returned to Dalhousie University to finish her Bachelor of Commerce prior to returning to Calgary to work full time in the Audit group in the fall of 2007. Taryn then went on to complete the CASB program and pass the UFE in 2009.

 

While working in the Calgary office, Taryn has had the opportunity to test out a number of different areas, working on large and small audit engagements, travelling across the country and over to London, preparing tax returns in the International Tax group, and working with the Campus Recruiting team on a 3-month temporary secondment in 2008. Upon passing the UFE and completing her third year with KPMG, Taryn took on a 1-year secondment working with the Campus Recruiting team as a Talent Attraction Specialist in the Calgary office and enjoyed this experience so much that she has now become a permanent member of the Talent Attraction Team!

 

In her free time, when she isn't too busy on campus, Taryn enjoys travelling, biking, volunteering in her community, and spending time with her family and friends.

  

Tim Young

Tim works in the Private Enterprise Practice and has been with KPMG for 12 months, which includes a summer internship and a full busy season. The diverse portfolio of clients he works with expose him to a multitude of industries and organizations from manufacturing to oil and gas to the not-for-profit sector.

 

While at KPMG, Tim has had the opportunity to organize a variety of social events including the firm-wide UFE marks parties, the Enterprise Christmas party and a practice wide curling event. Tim has also attended the KPMG FastForward Leadership Conference in Hollywood, CA to learn more about the opportunities KPMG offers its employees and to develop and hone his leadership skills.

 

In his spare time, Tim enjoys playing golf, traveling (an interest that was piqued when he studied abroad and lived in Italy) and giving back to his local community through initiatives that involve inspiring and empowering future business leaders in a high school setting.

Robert Borrelli

Robert is a Partner and a member of the KPMG Audit Practice and is the Energy Services Leader in Edmonton. Robert focuses primarily on providing audit and advisory services to high growth private and publicly traded companies, including clients required to be SOX 404 compliant.


Robert has over 20 years of experience, including four years in industry, providing audit and business services to privately owned and publicly traded clients. Further, he has experience providing advisory services related to financial reporting, financing, strategic planning, divestitures and due diligence engagements.


Robert is a Chartered Accountant and holds CBV and CFA designations. He has been actively involved in KPMG’s campus recruiting efforts for 2 years.

 

Don Matthew

Don Matthew has been a member of KPMG since 1982 and a Partner since 1993. Don started his career in the Greater Vancouver Area working at various times in leadership positions in the Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby offices. Effective February 1, 2006, he became Regional Managing Partner for KPMG in Alberta and Office Managing Partner of the Edmonton office.

 

Don sets the direction for the office from financial, quality, market, and people perspectives. Don’s current focus is ensuring they are meeting and exceeding the needs of clients and staff. As a course instructor at KPMG, Don has contributed to the development of tomorrow’s leaders by sharing his knowledge and experience in the business-critical areas of succession planning, due diligence, and marketing. Don also takes an active role in recruiting, educating, and career development of recent graduates.

 

Don is a member of the Board of Governors at the University of Alberta, the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors of Edmonton Regional Immigrant Employment Commission, and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.

 

Alex Beis

Alex Beis is a Senior Manager with KPMG’s Audit practice in Edmonton. As an Audit professional, Alex works with some of Edmonton’s leading publicly traded companies on their quarterly and annual filings. Alex enjoys providing clear advice to both his public and private clients when dealing with their complex business issues.


Alex is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta. He joined KPMG in 2003, completed the CASB program, and wrote the UFE in 2005. He has been actively involved in KPMG’s campus recruiting efforts for the past 3 years and also spent time as the in-house CASB coordinator in the Edmonton office.

Ravine Basahti

Ravine Basahti joined KPMG in September 2005 after spending a few years in private industry. Ravine started with KPMG as a Senior in the non-Audit practice before moving to KPMG’s Audit practice in 2007. 


While at KPMG, Ravine attained her CMA designation and is currently enrolled in the CASB program.

 

During her time at KPMG, Ravine has been actively involved with recruiting, office wide events, and acting as a Performance Counsellor.

 

Ravine's current focus is split between work and CASB, but enjoys travelling, spending time with family or friends, and being outdoors, whether it is for a run, hike, or barbeque.

Adam Cook

Adam Cook is a Manager with KPMG’s Enterprise practice.  Adam works primarily with private companies, providing a range of assurance, tax and advisory services.  This work has allowed Adam to become a trusted business advisor to a number of Edmonton’s budding entrepreneurs in addition to serving some of the largest private companies in the city.

 

Adam completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Alberta in 2005, and continued through the CASB program, writing the UFE in 2007.

 

Outside of work, Adam is quite active in community service which stems back to his student involvement on campus and continues to this day with several volunteer roles, including currently serving as Treasurer of the U of A Business Alumni Association. 

  

Taylor Rolheiser

Taylor is a Manager with KPMG Enterprise in Edmonton. Since joining KPMG in September 2005, she has kept busy providing Auditing, Tax, and Advisory services to a wide variety of clients, including private businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and many public sector clients. This role has provided Taylor with the opportunity to become a valued adviser to her clients, helping them to overcome the unique challenges they face.

A Bachelor of Commerce graduate from the University of Alberta, Taylor went through the CASB Program, wrote the UFE in 2007, and became a Chartered Accountant shortly thereafter. Taylor has been involved in recruiting since joining the firm and is the Lead Coordinator for the UFE Program in the Edmonton office.

Zarina Bhambhani

Zarina is currently a Senior Accountant with KPMG’s Audit practice in Edmonton. Since joining KPMG in September 2008, she has worked with a variety of private and publicly traded companies, and is currently focused on clients in the power utilities industry.

 

After completion of the CASB program, Zarina wrote the UFE in 2010 and was named to the National Honor Roll. She has since become one of the office’s UFE Coordinators and has been involved with training, recruiting, CASB mentorship, and KPMG’s UFE preparatory program at Brentwood. Zarina enjoys traveling and has visited various destinations in the U.S., Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia.

 

Paul Groch

Paul Groch joined KPMG in 2006 and is currently a Senior Accountant with KPMG's Audit practice in Edmonton. As an Audit professional, Paul works with Edmonton's leading private and publicly traded companies, with a focus on oil and gas service and power generation, and has assisted on several projects for transitions from Canadian GAAP to IFRS.


After successfully completing the Masters of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) program and UFE in 2009, Paul obtained his CA in early 2010.  While a KPMG, Paul has been involved in with campus recruitment, is a Performance Manager for several junior staff, and is an instructor at the University of Alberta for introductory accounting sessions.

 

Matthew Rudd

Matthew is currently a Senior Accountant with KPMG’s Audit practice in Edmonton. Matthew joined KPMG in September 2007 and has worked with leading publicly traded companies in the construction, banking, and oil and gas industries, and is currently focused on executing IFRS transition projects for these clients.


After completion of the CASB program, Matthew wrote the UFE in 2009 and was named to the National Honor Roll. He is currently involved in KPMG’s UFE prep program, along with providing IFRS training and being a Performance Manager for several new team members.
