Jamie joined KPMG in 1992 after graduating from St. Mary’s University in Halifax. He left for a short while to work at an airline, and returned to KPMG a few years later. He is now the Partner-in-Charge of the Halifax Audit practice, and has both private and public clients.

 

Jamie has held various roles within the firm, including Dialogue Counsellor. He is currently spending a lot of his time helping clients with their conversion to the new IFRS standards.

 

When not at work, Jamie can be found with his two boys and wife, or trying to work on his short game at the local golf course.

Michelle joined KPMG in 1990 after graduating from UPEI. Michelle joined the Audit practice and has remained there ever since. Michelle’s client base includes private corporations, universities, and local government organizations.

 

Since joining KPMG, Michelle has had many roles, including Student coordinator, Performance Counsellor, and Recruiter.

 

Outside of the office, Michelle spends most of her time trying to keep up with her three children and their busy schedules.

Nick Norrad joined KPMG in October 2010 after spending four years at a regional accounting firm in BC. He received his BBA from UNB in 2006 and his designation as a Chartered Accountant in early 2009.  Nick provides assurance and other services to KPMG’s Enterprise clients in the manufacturing, healthcare and professional services industries.

 

Since joining KPMG, Nick has enjoyed taking on the roles of performance and recruiting manager, as well as participating in the firm’s many community initiatives.

 

Outside of the office, Nick enjoys playing golf and tennis, relaxing with friends, and traveling with his lovely wife.

Scott Olsson

Scott has been with KPMG for 16 years and has worked with a wide variety of both private and public companies during this time. His first 4 years with KPMG were spent in Vancouver before transferring to the Calgary office in 2000. Since arriving in Calgary, Scott has gained extensive experience working with numerous technology-based clients, providing a wide range of services, including audit, securities work, and due diligence assignments.

 

Scott is a board member with the Alberta Science and Technology Foundation and also sits on the Accounting Steering Committee for the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He is also the partner responsible for KPMG in Calgary’s Campus Recruiting initiatives.

 

In his spare time, Scott is an avid golfer, and especially enjoys spending time with his wife and four young children.

 

Brian Rogers

Brian joined KPMG in 1976 in Halifax following graduation from Saint Mary's University. He spent 28 years at the firm’s Halifax office and was elected to the partnership in 1989. Brian was very involved in Institute affairs while in Nova Scotia, serving as Chair of the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, and two terms on the board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He was awarded the FCA designation for his service to the profession.

 

He transferred to the Calgary office in 2004 and acts as an engagement and concurring partner on a wide variety of publicly traded accounts in the corporate practice in the office. Brian is also the People Leader for the senior manager and manager groups in the practice.

 

Brian and his wife Jean have 4 children ranging in age from 17 to 24. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching his daughters with their pursuit of basketball, a hobby he very much shares with them. Brian and his wife are members of the Pinebrook Golf Club and like to get out and play golf as much as possible. The family is very interested in travelling and spends considerable time planning trips. Recent trips have taken them to Europe and Central America, a safari in Tanzania as well as cruises of the Greek Islands and the Caribbean.

 

  

Susie Cooke

Susie Cooke joined KPMG in September 2007 after completing the Bachelor of Business Administration at St. Francis Xavier University. Susie began her career as an auditing student in the oil and gas department at the Calgary office, and completed her CA designation is December 2009.  Susie’s current focus has been with the Oil and Gas practice as well as working on specific engagements within the Corporate Auditing Practice. 

 

While at KPMG, Susie has spent the last couple of years involved in the CASB mentorship program and KPMG’s UFE preparation program.  As well Susie has been involved in KPMG’s National Summer Student training program and enjoys being a mentor and performance counselor for junior staff. 

 

Before becoming an Accountant Susie had the opportunity to travel throughout Canada and Australia as she pursued her passion of cooking.  Susie has an active 8 year old at home, and spends most of her free time at a hockey arena or volunteering at her son’s school. 

 

Tim Young

Tim works in the Private Enterprise Practice and has been with KPMG for 12 months, which includes a summer internship and a full busy season. The diverse portfolio of clients he works with expose him to a multitude of industries and organizations from manufacturing to oil and gas to the not-for-profit sector.

 

While at KPMG, Tim has had the opportunity to organize a variety of social events including the firm-wide UFE marks parties, the Enterprise Christmas party and a practice wide curling event. Tim has also attended the KPMG FastForward Leadership Conference in Hollywood, CA to learn more about the opportunities KPMG offers its employees and to develop and hone his leadership skills.

 

In his spare time, Tim enjoys playing golf, traveling (an interest that was piqued when he studied abroad and lived in Italy) and giving back to his local community through initiatives that involve inspiring and empowering future business leaders in a high school setting.

 

Taryn Wener

Taryn has worked in a variety of areas in her short time at KPMG; she started her career with KPMG as a co-op student in Toronto in the fall of 2005, and then made the move to Calgary to complete a term as a summer intern in 2006. Taryn returned to Dalhousie University to finish her Bachelor of Commerce prior to returning to Calgary to work full time in the Audit group in the fall of 2007. Taryn then went on to complete the CASB program and pass the UFE in 2009. 

 

While working in the Calgary office, Taryn has had the opportunity to test out a number of different areas, working on large and small audit engagements, travelling across the country and over to London, preparing tax returns in the International Tax group, and working with the Campus Recruiting team on a 3-month temporary secondment in 2008. Upon passing the UFE and completing her third year with KPMG, Taryn took on a 1-year secondment working with the Campus Recruiting team as a Talent Attraction Specialist in the Calgary office and enjoyed this experience so much that she has now become a permanent member of the Talent Attraction Team!

 

In her free time, when she isn't too busy on campus, Taryn enjoys travelling, biking, volunteering in her community, and spending time with her family and friends.

Katherine joined KPMG in 2007 after obtaining her Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Katherine began her career with KPMG in the GTA audit practice working on clients in various industry groups including Energy, Mining, Industrials, Manufacturing and Pharmaceuticals.  Katherine obtained her Chartered Accountancy (CA) designation in 2010. 

 

While working with KPMG Canada, Katherine has been involved with recruiting, attending many on-campus and KPMG hosted events while also maintaining her involvement in many community groups. 

 

Most recently, Katherine has transitioned to KPMG’s Advisory practice and is currently a Senior Consultant in KPMG’s Business Effectiveness Group with a focus on Health Care clients.  This new role provides her with many opportunities to be involved in the community and help make a difference in the Canada’s Health Care sector.    Katherine has traveled a great deal through Canada, the US, and the Asia-Pacific region.  She enjoys hockey, sailing, golf and travelling.

Daniel Matthew

Daniel Joined KPMG full time in 2007 after obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce at Dalhousie University and successfully completing 3 co-op terms from 2005-2007. Daniel began at KPMG in the Toronto Audit practice working extensively on industrial and automotive clients. He obtained his Chartered Accountancy (CA) designation is 2010.

 

Daniel participated in a 6 month secondment to Calgary in 2008/2009 where he travelled around western Canada and the United States and working primarily in the Oil and Gas industry, with a brief stint in Enterprise, gaining knowledge of oil and gas accounting and tax.

 

While in Enterprise Daniel’s current focus is facing new responsibilities and delivering value added service to clients. He has traveled a great deal throughout Canada, US and Australia. Daniel enjoys hockey, volleyball and being terrible at golf.
