KPMG Gets a Nod for Sustainability

The only firm of the Big Four to receive award

(Toronto – April 29, 2011) -  KPMG is pleased to announce that for the third time we have been chosen as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers. This award recognizes employers that lead the nation in making environmental values part of their organizational culture.

Here’s why we received this award:

  • We integrate sustainability into our firm-wide commitment to being a Community Leader
  • We have a Sustainability Advisory Panel that finds opportunities to reduce the firm’s footprint
  • We have a sustainability Office Champion Network across the country that raises awareness and identifies local opportunities
  • We are committed to building to a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

“We’re honoured to receive this award,” says Tania Carnegie, Executive Director of Community Leadership. “It reflects our commitment to make a positive difference as a Community Leader. As we move forward, we will continue to find new and different ways to reduce our environmental impact.”

KPMG International’s “Global Green Initiative” commits the global network of member firms to reduce its international carbon footprint by 25 per cent by the end of 2010, compared to the baseline year of 2007. Stay tuned for these results, which will be released later in June.
