"KPMG recognizes the importance of lifelong learning, and it starts with helping talented young Canadians develop to their full potential," said Louisa Lungu, Senior Talent Attraction Manager, National Campus Recruiting at KPMG. "We want to give students the resources to pursue their interests in accounting and marketing and to form valuable relationships with KPMG."
Accounting scholarship recipients:
- Jawad Shujaatali – Schulich School of Business, York University
- Anu Rao – Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia
Professional services marketing scholarship recipients:
- Yasmin Hariri – Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario
- Natalie Wallace – Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario
Applicants were evaluated based on academic excellence, leadership skills, commitment to their schools and larger communities, and a demonstrated commitment to a career in accounting or professional services marketing. The marketing scholarship highlights the importance of business-to-business marketing in professional services firms, which is a unique sub-set of the broader marketing industry.
"The KPMG scholarships recognize these exemplary students for their achievements both academically and within their community," said Helen Spice, CFO at KPMG International. "The awards also raise the profile of accounting and business-to-business marketing in their academic institutions."
The KPMG Scholarship is offered annually to full-time university students entering second, third or fourth year at an accredited Canadian university. Each scholarship is worth $5,000 and is directly applied to the winner's tuition.
