    Never Again? Risk management in banking beyond the credit crisis 

    In this October 2008 survey, carried out by the Economist Intelligence Unit and involving over 500 senior managers involved in risk management from leading banks around the world, respondents were asked to identify the weaknesses in risk management that contributed to the crisis and the actions being taken by the industry to prevent such a catastrophe reoccurring.

    The credit crisis has forced banks to take a critical look at how they manage risk and has exposed some significant weaknesses in risk management across the financial services industry. The collapse of several high profile banks, the emergency bailout of others, departures of CEOs and CFOs, the hundreds of billions of dollars of write-downs and efforts by banks to raise fresh capital were all signs that something had gone very badly wrong.
