Indirect taxes, including GST/HST, PST and QST, continue to evolve, bringing increased compliance risks and the risk of over or under payment. The introduction of the HST in Ontario and British Columbia, the subsequent announcement to repeal the HST in British Columbia and to go back to a PST/GST system, the recent Quebec QST/GST harmonization announcement and increasing rates of tax in Nova Scotia and Quebec, have resulted in increased risk in a complex environment.

On Wednesday, December 7th, 2011, KPMG’s tax professionals helped identify compliance issues and planning opportunities related to the transition to harmonization in Quebec and the return to PST in BC and reviewed key issues to help you understand if your organization transitioned to HST correctly.
