A recent KPMG webcast discusses the possible effects the OECD discussion drafts may have on Canadian businesses. It aired on April 17, 2014 and is now available online.

In particular, the webcast reviews the OECD discussion drafts released in 2014 on the following topics:

  • Preventing treaty abuse
  • Taxation of the digital economy
  • Transfer pricing documentation and country-by-country reporting
  • Neutralizing hybrid mismatch arrangements.

The OECD is moving rapidly to engage the global community on these changes. The 2014 federal budget requested comments on suggested measures to address treaty abuse in Canada. The federal government also sought views on how Canada should address BEPS. This webcast provides a good overview of the current global status of these topics.

A replay of the webcast is available online.
