Sean Gilbert joins KPMG China as Director of Climate Change & Sustainability

4 July 2011, China

KPMG China is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Gilbert to the position of Director, Climate Change & Sustainability (CC&S) practice.

Prior to joining KPMG China, Sean was the China Director of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international organisation that sets global reporting standards for the annual disclosure of economic, environmental and social risks and opportunities and related performance. Sean led the development of the GRI's existing standards and indicators, including the GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. GRI is now the most widely used guideline for performance measurement and reporting in the world.

Having spent many years in the US, Europe, and ASPAC, Sean has extensive experience analysing the link between sustainability and business strategy for a variety of organisations. He has also achieved excellent results working with Chinese government and companies to promote the development of sustainability reporting in China.

Sean says of his appointment: "I am delighted to join KPMG China and the CC&S practice. China is entering a new phase in its growth path within which understanding climate change and sustainability will be much more important to realising business objectives than in the past. I look forward to working closely with colleagues to assist companies in developing strategies and internal capacity to capitalise on sustainability trends for their activities within China as well as their during their entry new markets overseas."

Leah Jin, Partner in charge of CC&S at KPMG China, says:" With sustainability issues rising to the top of corporate agendas, Sean's knowledge and broad skill set coupled with his wealth of experience in the CC&S arena, and extensive network of global contacts, will be invaluable to KPMG and our clients. "
