One Young World

One Young World

We are extremely pleased to announce that five of our top young talents will represent KPMG China at the One Young World Summit in Zurich in September 2011.

All together, KPMG will be sending 28 representatives from 10 countries to participate in this significant event.

What is One Young World?

 •  This 'junior Davos' summit is a global entrepreneurial forum where KPMG's future leaders

from across the world can work alongside the future leaders from other leading

     organisations, including our clients.

 •  Inspirational world leaders including Chef Jamie Oliver, singer and songwriter Joss Stone,

global CEO of Unilever Paul Polman, amongst many others, will be interacting with the

    delegates at this year's summit.

 •  Watch this short video for some inspiring insight into the One Young World Summit.

What is the role of a One Young World delegate?

 •  Before the summit, delegates are asked about their areas of interest, to help
them define their own world-changing resolutions during the summit.

 •  Supported by an array of inspirational world leaders during the three-day summit, the

delegates will discuss and agree on a number of world-changing resolutions that

they wish to bring back to their communities and organisations.

•  Delegates will collaborate with other One Young World partner organisations to take

these resolutions forward and make a difference.

•  The delegates will return to work prepared to take responsibility, with support from

KPMG, to implement their resolution and make our community and the world a better

    place.

Why does KPMG support this initiative?

 •  Developing high-performing individuals is one of the key aspects that differentiates

KPMG from the rest. We seek opportunities to develop our future leaders and give

them the platform to broaden their horizons and make a difference in our community

    and the world.

 •  We want our people to gain a wider outlook on the world that we are living in. One

Young World is an extraordinary opportunity for our people to be inspired, and in turn,

bring inspiring changes to motivate those around them.

We wish our delegates great success at the summit and will support them in realizing their resolutions and making a difference. Our delegates will be sharing their experience "live" from the summit and you can stay connected with them by 'liking' KPMG on our Facebook, Renren and Weibo pages.

What do our young delegates say?

Ross Luo

Ross Luo, Manager, Transaction and Restructuring
I joined KPMG Hong Kong in January 2010 and now work as a manager in Transaction Services. I have also worked in the KPMG London and Shanghai offices. In my current role, I have led financial due diligence projects for many private equity houses and multinational corporations, and specialise in retail, infrastructure and manufacturing. I am really passionate about travelling and have visited about 30 different countries. Meeting new people and experiencing new cultures have taught me to be open-minded and accepting of different opinions.

I see One Young World (OYW) as a great opportunity to voice our concerns about the world’s critical issues, and to discuss solutions with fellow delegates and world leaders. I am particularly interested in addressing ways to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption in urban offices.

Curtis Feng, Assistant Manager, Audit, KPMG Beijing
My name is Curtis Kedi Feng and I am 27 years old. I have been working at KPMG for five years and am currently an assistant manager in Audit Department 2 in Beijing. By attending the OYW Summit, I hope to find out young people’s views about current issues, to broaden my horizons, and to get to know people from different cultures. I will bring these ideas back to KPMG and try to influence the people around me to create a better life.

I am interested in issues related to sports and the environment.

Victor Lau

Victor Lau, Manager, Audit, KPMG

Hong Kong
I started my career at KPMG and have been working in Audit Department 9 for five years. It is really great to have the

opportunity to take part in such an amazing event. I am looking forward to learning from the world leaders at the OYW summit and exchanging ideas with candidates from around the world. I am interested in the future of the world and I want to know how the world leaders at the summit intend to address issues about the economy, politics and the environment. I will bring these ideas back to Hong Kong and share them with my colleagues and friends. My areas of interest are the environment, interfaith dialogue and leadership.

Jerry Li, Assistant Manager, Tax,

KPMG Shanghai
I am Jerry Li from Shanghai, Tax department, and I have been a professional Chinese business and tax advisor for four years.

I have been a qualified member of CICPA since 2009 and am now pursuing the HKICPA course. At this summit, I would like to encourage people to think about global businesses and be able to talk to young business leaders about new ideas and potentially revolutionary business models. Using my professional knowledge, I will try to facilitate discussions about our business and industry. In doing so, I hope to bring back innovative ideas to develop the Chinese market.

With China’s rapidly developing economy, environmental protection and political system reforms have also become prominent issues. Our business will impact and likewise be impacted by them. Looking for solutions to develop sustainably should be of paramount importance. As such, I would like to see more discussion on the interplay between business, environmental and leadership issues in this summit.

Frank Wu Frank Wu, Assistant Manager, Management Consulting, KPMG Beijing
This is Frank Wu from Beijing, Management Consulting department. Now into my third year at KPMG, I am currently working on an advisory project for the telecommunications industry in China. Many thanks to KPMG for this great opportunity that will allow me to meet a diverse range of people from different nations – I believe I will have a fulfilling experience and take away with me a wealth of ideas. For this summit, I am interested in exploring issues pertaining to the social environment of transition economies.
