Sustainable Insight - July 2009

In May 2009, more than 500 business leaders from around the world met in Copenhagen to put forward recommendations for the next global treaty on climate change, which is expected to be adopted at the United Nations Climate Change conference in December. The objective of the summit was to demonstrate how policy, coupled with innovative business models, could drive a sustainable transformation of the economy, stimulating both job creation and low-carbon solutions. Drawing on KPMG's in-house expertise and client experience, this Sustainable insight intends to shed light on the underlying rationale and practical business implications of each of the elements of the Copenhagen Call. By doing so, we wish to continue our practice of providing analysis of the role of business in combating climate change, and in shaping policy responses.
