The 24th edition of our survey of Hong Kong banks' performance also includes timely comment on the outlook for the sector in the year ahead. While economic conditions in Hong Kong were generally favourable in 2011, it was evident that banks were operating in a challenging environment and GDP growth has slowed moving into 2012. This combined with an increasingly uncertain investment market, has led to slowing activity in the banking sector.
