China's grid: Keeping pace with a transforming economy

China should see fast growth in all segments of the power industry. However, this will depend critically upon the development of grid infrastructure. This paper looks at the government's efforts to promote efficiency gains through the development of a "smart grid" system with networking to help better allocate electricity supply to demand.
