FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act), which will come into force in January 2013, already has a significant impact on the management and operations of financial institutions (including banks, insurers, funds and securities companies) globally. As the information provided by the U.S. regarding the Act is limited, many financial institutions are concerned over what specific steps should currently be performed.
This roundtable seminar is dedicated to those financial institutions currently embarked on the FATCA compliance process. The discussion will be led by Mr. Carl Cooper, previously senior executive from the IRS and now Managing Director of the Withholding and Information Reporting practice in Washington, and Ms. Laurie Hatten-Boyd, U.S. Tax Partner in charge of FATCA and IRS relationship, who will share information from their current FATCA projects, practical advice on what to do/look out for during the implementation process as well as providing feedback on recent discussions with the IRS. Mr. Pierre Noel, Head of FATCA Services, KPMG Asia Pacific and Mr. Charles Kinsley, Tax Partner, KPMG China, will also join the roundtable discussion to provide insights and examples from their current work with clients in Hong Kong and the region.
