Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)

SIFE is an international non-profit organisation working across 39 countries to help young people gain financial knowledge to develop community projects. Each year, the effectiveness of each team’s programme is judged by leaders from the business community in regional and national competitions.

Globally, KPMG has been a major sponsor of SIFE since 1990. KPMG China’s collaboration with SIFE in China and Hong Kong SAR dates back to 2004. During the academic year 2011/2012, 77 KPMG China staff from eight offices volunteered to be business advisors for 62 SIFE projects. Working with SIFE we have watched these students bring their ideas to life to provide real, sustainable benefits to their local communities.

In addition, SIFE holds an annual series of regional and national competitions, giving SIFE students the chance to present the results of their projects and providing business leaders an opportunity to evaluate them. Our partners and senior managers have also served as judges in SIFE competitions.

In June 2012, 18 KPMG China senior staff served as judges to 60 SIFE teams for SIFE national competition in Beijing. In April, 15 KPMG China staff from five offices served as judges for SIFE regional competitions.
