Sustainability and Climate Change

In many organizations, sustainability has become a priority. Not only customers and NGOs show an increased interest in such topics, but increasingly also investors take into account social and environmental criteria in their decisions, instead of just focusing on economic factors. Sustainability goes beyond the mere reporting on corporate responsibility - it calls for a revised business model with a long-term strategy.

Companies’ business environments are exposed to dramatic transformations. Population growth, urbanization and the corresponding increase in demand for various goods are in stark contrast to the scarcity of resources, reduced biodiversity and other global mega-trends. These challenges force companies to act with strategic foresight, which in turn implies an in-depth understanding of causal relationships. Price volatility, tightening regulations, changing demands of consumers and other stakeholders, but also direct and indirect impacts due to climate change are already affecting companies' profits.

Which challenges should you expect?

  • Complexity: a targeted sustainable strategy requires an in-depth understanding of both global and local mega-trends
  • Scope: focusing on essential issues is the starting point of any effective and efficient sustainability initiative
  • Multi-disciplinarity: sustainability issues are multi-faceted and require a cooperation across disciplines
  • Various stakeholder groups: the communication of sustainability issues is received by a very diversified group of stakeholders, which is why it must fulfill the highest standards on quality and sophistication
  • Increasing requirements: the increasing interest in sustainability initiatives requires improved data quality and processes
