M&A Report

In addition to our M&A Yearbook we create a quarterly M&A reports that reflect the activities of the Swiss M&A market.

After a strong 2014, Switzerland’s M&A market has been more restrained during the first quarter of 2015. With only 65 deals, there were far fewer transactions taking place (-38%). The overall volume was also down, at 21 billion US dollars (USD) (-18%). This restraint is due mainly to the move by the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to scrap its minimum euro exchange rate in January. The resulting market uncertainty has stalled some major pending M&A decisions, although the new strategic challenges facing many companies should see M&A activity pick up again soon.
