Event review: Swiss GAAP FER

Swiss GAAP FER
Recently the NZZ EQUITY magazine published three articles on the advantages of Swiss GAAP FER. These articles are really informative and help the public to learn more about the Swiss accounting standards.
After the introductory speeches by Prof. Dr. Reto Eberle and Prof. Dr. Urs Bertschinger, the attendees had the opportunity to discuss specific questions in four different workshops:

  • Industry and Trading, Reto Eberle and Stefan Andres: Difficult application questions and  regulations, particularly about provisions (also in connection with pension liabilities).
  • Hospitals, Marc Dominic Widmer and Michael Eichenberger: Practical putting into action of the Swiss GAAP FER manual of  H+ (e.g. questions about  the assessment of tangible assets and the treatment of funds).
  • NPOs, Michael Herzog and Dr. Martina Ziegerer: Practical putting into action and application of Swiss GAAP FER.
  • Building and health insurers, Hieronymus T. Dormann and Christian Fleig: Introduction of Swiss GAAP FER 41 and the practice of rights to vote and special challenges like assessment of capital investments and balancing of actuarial provisions.
