Jürg Birri appointed new Head of Legal at KPMG in German-speaking Switzerland 

Jürg Birri will be taking charge of Legal at KPMG in German-speaking Switzerland with effect from 1 October 2012. Birri previously headed up Private Clients at the Zurich office and has many years of experience in advising banks and clients at both national and international level on complex legal and tax-related issues.
KPMG Switzerland has appointed Jürg Birri (42), a graduate in law (lic. iur.), attorney-at-law and certified tax expert, as the new Head of Legal at KPMG in German-speaking Switzerland with effect from 1 October 2012. This means he will assume responsibility for providing legal advice to companies and wealthy international private clients. Jürg Birri’s future responsibilities will center around legal and regulatory issues concerning the law as it applies to financial markets and will see him supporting companies in matters regarding contract and corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions. Other important areas of the law in which KPMG supports corporate clients include intellectual property law and data protection, competition and antitrust law, employment and pension law, and succession planning.

 

Jürg Birri joined KPMG as a partner in 2011 and has been in charge of Private Clients at the Zurich office. He has also been responsible for advising banks on regulatory and related tax issues. Before joining KPMG, he was responsible for wealth and tax planning for private clients at a Swiss private bank. Jürg Birri studied law at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and is a qualified attorney-at-law in the Canton of St. Gallen.
