KPMG chair at the University of St. Gallen extended until 2021

KPMG is extending the financing for this chair at the Institute for Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at the University of St. Gallen (ACA) for another eight years. The Institute, headed up by Prof. Peter Leibfried, systematically examines current and future challenges faced in the areas of auditing and accounting; it enjoys an excellent reputation.
For years, KPMG has taken a proactive approach to its examination of economic, regulatory, business and especially financial challenges as well as their impact on accounting and auditing. This stance gave rise to the partnership with the University of St. Gallen (HSG) entered into in 2005 which then took the form of financing for an Audit and Controlling chair at the Institute for Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at HSG (ACA).

The scientific achievements of Prof. Peter Leibfried, holder of the KPMG chair, and the ACA since then have now prompted KPMG to reach an early decision to extend its commitment at HSG for 2013-2021. Developments such as the financial crisis, the international regulatory wave it triggered and the current overindebtedness of nearly all countries in the industrialized world show just how important financial issues – and a systematic approach toward dealing with them – will become in the future, as well.
