IP Location Nidwalden – KPMG gets you there

As of 1 January 2011, the canton of Nidwalden introduced the "Licence Box System". This system is unique in Switzerland and strengthens the position of Nidwalden as an attractive business and research location.

As of 1 January 2011, the new law reduces the cantonal tax rate on net licence income by 80%. Including federal tax, an effective corporate income tax rate of 8.8% is levied on net licence income. Compared to rules in other countries, the definition of licence income is very wide. The inclusion of copyright makes Nidwalden a location of choice for companies in the entertainment industry.
