Benjamin Wall will be the new Sector Coordinator for Automotive at KPMG Switzerland. On June 1, 2009, he will succeed Roger Neininger, who was appointed to the Executive Board and will become the Head of Audit.
As of June 1, 2009, Benjamin Wall (52) will become the new Sector Coordinator for Automotive at KPMG Switzerland. He will replace Roger Neininger, who has been appointed as the new Head of Audit at KPMG Switzerland.
Benjamin Wall will assume responsibility for advisory services for an industry that has been particularly hard hit by the current economic crisis: "The automotive sector is at a crossroads. Even before the financial crisis took hold it found itself facing major demands from politicians and members of the general public, who insist that the industry make a substantial contribution toward protecting the environment and combating climate change. Added to this, the price of commodities has been rising over a long period and immense cost pressure has affected suppliers and traders. The economic crisis has now accelerated a consolidation process with no end yet in sight and with consequences for which we have to prepare our clients.”
KPMG provides its automotive industry clients with auditing and advice on tax-related issues, issues of compliance and governance (e.g., accounting, risk management, project management), performance (e.g., cost optimization, cash and working capital management, supplier management, research and development management, controlling), and growth (e.g., choice of location, corporate transactions, financing).
Benjamin Wall, who currently holds the title of director, has worked for KPMG Switzerland since 1999. During his tenure at the firm he has delivered various advisory services to international corporations. For over three years his work has focused on the Swiss and European automotive industries, first working as an account management for a leading vehicle manufacturer and then as Automotive Sector Executive for KPMG Europe LLP for the past 18 months. Before joining KPMG he worked as an advisor at a corporate advisory company in Zurich and for a major Swiss bank following 10 years working in London and Boston. Benjamin Wall studied economics and psychology at Yale University. He subsequently completed a postgraduate course at Harvard and obtained a master of science degree from the London School of Economics. He is married and has three children.
