Vanessa Carroca, Scholarship Recipient
Vanessa was awarded the 2010 KPMG Scholarship. She is currently a student at London Metropolitan University in the UK where she is studying towards a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance. Vanessa is a graduate of both Cedarbridge Academy and the Bermuda College.
As a first year university student, I decided that it would be beneficial to get my “foot in the door” at an accounting firm. I felt that it could help me develop my career. I first made contact with KPMG when I applied for a summer internship by mailing in an application form. Shortly after, I received a request for a phone interview from the Recruitment Manager and was offered a summer position.
At KPMG, I have learned that no two days are the same which is great because it makes the job more interesting. My client experiences have been enjoyable and I had a great introduction to life at KPMG.
I would advise any student pursuing an accounting degree that KPMG is the firm to choose. They invest in you and are willing to help you in any way possible so that you can receive the best experience and training available.
Long term, I plan to establish myself within KPMG so I can work alongside qualified accountants, and gain as much knowledge as possible.
