Study of governments’ adoption of cloud computing

Study of governments’ adoption of cloud computing
Globally, governments are beginning to explore cloud computing; a model for delivering information technology services in which resources are retrieved from the internet through web-based tools and applications, rather than a direct connection to a server.

With ongoing focus on reducing costs and improving efficiency, acceptance of cloud computing will undoubtedly increase. ‘Exploring the Cloud – A Study of governments’ adoption of cloud computing’, a new KPMG International publication, highlights the underlying challenges and opportunities presented by cloud technology. It discusses how governments around the world are cautiously adopting cloud and how adoption is expected to accelerate.

The report is based on a survey of nearly 430 public sector executives and 808 private sector executives, on their expectations and strategies for cloud technology.

The report also contains some case studies of different government organizations on their road to adopting cloud computing, and gives an overview of the differences in challenges, perception, and adoption between the public sector and private sector.
