KPMG in Russia conducted a study to provide a brief economic overview of Russia and also introduce the tax and legal issues that are important for those who are planning to do business in Russia.

 

Russia is the world’s largest country in terms of territory, with a consumer market of over 140 million people, vast natural resources, a highly educated workforce, technologically advanced research, and production and capabilities.

 

In recent years, consumer activity in Russia has contributed to dynamic growth in retail, telecommunications and real estate development. Incomes are rising and consumer lending and mortgages are becoming more widespread.

 

The KPMG study of foreign investment activity highlighted the fact that foreign direct investment (FDI) into Russia is highly concentrated.

 

Russia has also made significant strides on the path of innovation-based development. The government has shown support by allocating substantial budget funds for innovation-based plans.
