The results from this year’s survey highlight the growing importance of natural gas as an energy source. Energy executives expect to continue research and development (R&D) investment in alternative energy projects, with shale gas and oil as a key investment area. However, renewables such as wind and solar technologies remain firmly on the agenda. Such findings demonstrate the industry’s intent to explore all options to pursue a diverse mix of energy sources to meet worldwide needs.
