Private Enterprise

Private Enterprise offers services to enterprises situated in the dynamic and exciting middle market sector of Australian business. It includes medium sized, growth oriented private and family businesses that drive much of our economic growth and innovation. It also includes mid-sized listed companies, start-ups, foreign owned subsidiaries, expanding professional partnerships and superannuation funds.

We work with clients to help them achieve their short, medium and longer-term objectives, as they progress through various growth phases from start-ups, through growth by acquisition, to listing on the stock exchange or a trade sale. We offer a range of audit and accounting, tax compliance and advisory services that complement clients’ existing resources.

Developing strong business skills

In Private Enterprise, you can look forward to developing a strong foundation of business skills and knowledge. You will gain exposure to different clients and industries. Your task and responsibilities will vary from day to day as you respond to your clients.

One day you will prepare financial statements, the next day you will assist with analysing a set of accounts for a business acquisition or review key business ratios for reporting to a bank. You will complete tax returns, assist with researching industry trends and if you work in Private Enterprise Audit, you will work at the client site to complete the audit process.

You’ll work closely with business owners and decision makers, becoming a trusted and respected adviser. You’ll be expected to find solutions to problems involving commercial, tax and compliance issues. You will see how organisations operate at all levels.

You’ll work alongside people who are adaptable, value variety in their work and gain satisfaction from helping others build something worthwhile.

Required qualifications

You should possess (or be studying for) a degree in commerce or business, majoring in accounting. Generally, you must also have completed all the appropriate accredited courses/subjects to be eligible to commence the Chartered Accountant (CA) program when you join KPMG. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) can provide details of these accredited courses.

CA Program broader entry requirements

Following changes in the entry requirements for the Chartered Accountants Program, the ICAA will now be allowing non-accounting graduates to complete the CA Program. In light of these changes, our offices will be recruiting a small number of graduates to join Private Enterprise through this program. Find out more about the CA Program broader entry requirements.
