Tax reform: Greater productivity and a higher standard of living

Tax reform can give rise to greater productivity and a higher standard of living.

Tax can act as an impediment to decision making and economists call this dead weight losses. Taxes with high dead weight losses need to be replaced with those of lower dead weight losses to decrease the level of impediment for economic activity leading to greater productivity and a higher stand of living.
David Linke, KPMG Australia’s National Corporate Tax Leader and Grant Wardell-Johnson, Australian Taxation Centre Leader discuss why the tax reform debate is critical to the future prosperity of the Australian economy.
