Based in Melbourne, Peter will be chair for a three-year term, commencing 8 August 2011. He will also assume positions on KPMG’s Global and Asia Pacific boards.
Having joined KPMG in 1982, Peter has worked for the firm in Australia, Canada and the Asia Pacific region, and led a number of major global accounts spanning the financial services and energy and natural resources sectors. Senior roles have included Head of Markets and Head of People, Performance and Culture, and most recently Head of Audit in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
"Peter is the right individual to work with CEO Geoff Wilson to drive our strategy at a local, regional and global level," said Michael Andrew. "Over the years he has consistently demonstrated outstanding client service capability and is a thought leader in ensuring audit quality and innovation."
Michael will relocate to Hong Kong to take up his new position as Global Chairman from 1 October.
