Migration Newsflash: Changes to migration schemes effective 1 July 2012 

The Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC) has released the Consolidated Skilled Occupation list to be used for Temporary Business Entry, Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) as well as state-nominated General Skilled Migration.

This list increases the number of eligible occupations and provides streamlined eligibility for ENS.

 

The ENS and the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) has been the subject to substantial review by DIAC, with changes in place as of 1 July 2012.

 

Key insights

  • ENS is now a subclass 186 visa.
  • RSMS is now the subclass 187 visa.
  • Under the Temporary Business Entry scheme, the new Temporary Skilled Migration income threshold subclass 457 visa applicants must meet is now $51,400.
