IFRS Briefing Sheet 214: Draft of IFRS Consolidated Financial Statements

The IASB’s staff draft of the forthcoming IFRS Consolidated Financial Statements introduces a new control model to determine when a investee should be consolidated.

The staff draft, which is subject to change, indicates an investor has control when it is exposed or has rights to variable returns and has the ability to affect those returns through its power over the investee.

The proposals are likely to result in different outcomes to those under IAS 27 Consolidated and Separate Financial Statements.
