Internationally, the last quarter of 2011 continued to be a busy and crucial time for the Eurozone. Italy and Greece both admitted new Prime Ministers, who quickly proposed new austerity measures for their countries in order to access relief funding.

Whilst in the Asia Pacific region, Australia's big four banks were downgraded by Standard & Poor's (S&P) and Chinese banks have been upgraded, bringing most of the large banks in the region in line with each other, all with a AA- rating.
