(1) Medicare Levy and DisabilityCare Australia draft legislation released

On 13 May 2013, the Treasurer, Wayne Swan, and the Minister for Disability Reform, Jenny Macklin, released draft legislation to enact the proposed increase of the Medicare Levy to fund DisabilityCare Australia, the Government's National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

 

(2) Federal Budget 2013-14: KPMG's budget analysis and insight

This evening, 14 May 2013 at 7.30pm, the Commonwealth Treasurer, Wayne Swan, will hand down the Federal Budget for 2013-14. KPMG in Australia will prepare a review of the major implications on business arising from the Federal Budget.

 

(3) Legislation cleared for introduction into Federal Parliament

(5) Treasurer's Pre-Budget comments

On 14 May 2013, the Treasurer, Wayne Swan, wrote an opinion piece in The Australian, outlining what can be expected from the Federal Budget for 2013-14, which will be delivered this evening. The Treasurer's economic note, released on 12 May 2013, also discusses the Budget plans. The priorities underpinning this Budget, according to the Treasurer, are jobs and economic growth, a pathway to surplus, and investments in the future.
